To power or charge a Dell laptop, you require a special Dell power supply or a Dell compatible universal laptop charger. Most Dell laptops use one of two types of tip or charging head: the three headed plastic plug, and the simple plug. Our universal laptop charger provides these two specific Dell laptop charging heads; the K and J head from the ULC series that are compatible with most types of dell laptop. The original Dell power supply cannot be purchased from retailers. It is considered a spare part, and is therefore subject to Dell prices and waiting times, which can both be enormous!

The Dell power supply can be replaced with a universal laptop charger that supports the Dell specifications. Our universal laptop power supply is designed to work perfectly with your Dell laptop as a safe alternative or replacement to your original Dell power supply. Whether you want an additional laptop power supply to power your laptop in another room or to have one for the office and one for the home, or if you've lost or damaged your original power supply and need a replacement, there are several things to consider.

Universal laptop chargers come in two formats, the manual switcher and the automatic switcher. The manual switchers require the user to select the correct voltage for their laptop, and select the correct head to fit their laptop. Typically these manual switching laptop power supplies are a cheaper alternative to the auto switcher. There are of course cons to this system, as if the user selects the incorrect laptop voltage or the switch is accidentally moved to a different selection, you risk damaging your equipment, usually short circuiting the charger itself and breaking it (which is a good thing, as it protects your laptop in the process, but still not a nice situation to be in!).

The auto switching laptop power supply on the other hand requires the user to simply select the correct head. The auto switcher will do the rest, detecting voltages and amperages automatically. Our universal laptop charger will charge any major brand PC laptop, including your Dell, and in any country, so you can travel with your laptop and with minimal effort or risk to the user. It exceeds all safety standards set by the UK RoHS governing body, and only costs a fraction of what the equivalent charger does on the high street.
